Executive Director

Greetings and Sawasdee from all of us at Operation Smile Thailand.

Last month, May 9-13, we conducted a successful week-long medical mission to Yasothon province in the northeast of the Kingdom. Yasothon is famous for its Rocket Festival (ประเพณีบุญบั้งไฟ; Prapheni Bun Bang Fai), which takes place during the second weekend in May. The rockets were an interesting diversion for some of our volunteers when the mission ended, but during the week their full attention was at ground level where they treated 99 patients, exceeding our target of 80. On June 7 we returned to Yasothon for follow-up appointments.

Our first mission to Mae Hong Son in February was a great success. Read all about it below. Also find news about our Bright Smiles & Happy Hearts program, the millions we raised at Colour Miles for Smiles, and the fantastic professional development opportunity seven of our medical volunteers enjoyed at Virginia Beach, USA. Enjoy this e-newsletter and keep your valuable support coming; it is very much appreciated by our patients, their families, and the communities in which they live.
